The future of Travel Update 20.5.20

In the Rhone-Alps with Australian founder of Nomad Stays.co Mark Phillips

A weekly series of updates on the future of travel by the Founder of Nomad Stays, Mark Phillips. Mark shares the latest news and his predictions on what’s likely to become next.

Based on 30 years in the travel and tech industries combined with his economics skills he compares the latest global glitches with previous events like the GFC, 911 and Asian Financial Crisis.

Tops covered include border openings, visas, quarantine, the accommodation industry, product changes, pricing events, airline routes and changes, travel health, safety, insurance and trends.

It has become the new normal because now more than ever before working from anywhere is possible and not just afar fetched dream. Companies have been forced to have people work from home through COVID which has now made it very apparent that it is possible and more viable. People use to think that working from anywhere and digital nomad was just another explanation for a gap year. But now we know that is not the case.

But in saying this working from anywhere is not new, national geographic has had freelancers and staff roaming all over the planet, it’s not new so get used to it. Google and Microsoft have had remote workers for about 15 years so it’s about time we all caught up.

So now that you can work from anywhere, where to next for you?
